OK, not going to SW8. In future, boy, think before you say yes to everything. That's all!
Been waiting so long for synctracks I can't even remember what I'm waiting for. Not usually a problem when there are reviews to do but none at the mo. Working on novel instead but next week will talk to more libs about more work. Come on boy!
Margaret's broken hand/wrist still causing complications and difficulties.

Still agonising over whether to go to SW8. If it were just a long weekend fine but it's 4th to 13th April which is soooo long.

Owch!

Today I fell off my bike and landed on my nose. Or by dose, more correctly. Right hand took a whack too and a thump on my chest plus various cuts and bruises. What a total idiot! Arrived at Les's covered in blood. Bike's gears could be ruined, not sure yet.

Also Margaret broke her wrist, Pat's still at the hospital now, could be a while. What a day!

Headshock material coming on well. Maybe do more this week gorgeous weather and stupid hand permitting. No library work to do, plus could hardly play it anyway unless easy. Won't finish that nice piano piece now for a while. No response from last tracks, urgency soon disappears with those guys. Will look for someone else to work for, need more tracks out there. Need more reviews too, come on lad. Still, sunshine is so nice...

Hmmm sunshine and more sunshine. Novel's only up to chapter six but the stuff I have is starting to click together and feel like something. Headshock material also appearing so all in all not too worried the lib stuff is slow and no reviews. Well, you know. Booooze!

Ugh, my head. Recorded a decent track with Tim yesterday, appeared to be quite drunk when I eventually went to bed. Hey ho. Still waiting for lib to get back to me despite them saying they want these sorted this week. I think the serial killer ones are done to their new instructions and I've made a start on the car ones too.
It's soooo sunny. Don't feel like doing much... spawn to take to pond... that'll do me...

Still not decided about France. And there's the trip to Colin's too for the usual indulgence and some GX1 humping.

Went to Awakenings last night, new satnav guided me well despite the inevitable roadworks on the way home. A good night, especially enjoyed Jez and Norman Fay doing music to a black and white film. One of my ideas from years ago I never acted on. I think I'd still like to do it though but do music to the actual film. There were only a few parts that seemed in any way related to what was happening on screen, yet the whole thing hung together well, very cool. The Sculpts were good too, extended sequencer pieces. I think 10-15 mins per piece is probably enough for my own stuff, I like breaking things down then starting them up too much. Pete playing a lot of lush strings and no sequencing.
They all had some really ace kit, but it was interesting how the nuances of different filters, clever sequencers and impressive modulars really make little difference through an average PA in a difficult room. Will stick to my simple Cirklon with Perfourmer and Radias core I think. Still undecided about Octatrack and how it will fit in. Turns out that now I can do complex/polished stuff on it I want to go back to being raw and unpredictable again. Typical!

After a nice walk I came home and took it easy. Last night I started novel 2 having finally got a plot, of sorts. Read some Vonnegut to remind me about brevity and drank some beer. Contemplated buying a Theremin.

Thursday, 15 March 2012

I'm a bit directionless today. Holding fire on the serial killers and atmospheric stuff for now cos I think they want to send some of their usual spreadsheet/comments. Could potter on the hardware but lacking motivation. Could maybe work on my novel but feeling very lethargic and generally lazy. Ordered the new Synthi pins. Weather is another of those grey, windless days with a featureless blanket of cloud hanging over the entire sky. It's been like that for a while now and the lack of connection with the sky is actually quite oppressive. I may listen to some music and see if that cheers me up.

Finished two tracks today and started a third. Sent the two in, they seem OK to me. Lost out on the lambda, someone else wanted it. Hey ho, spose I should spend the cash more sensibly. I liked the idea of the limitations of a string machine, maybe I should look for something else similarly limited. Or there are a few Prodigies for sale at the mo, none local though, and do I really need another monosynth? I know the answer to that one.

Tuesday, 13 March 2012

Not bad day, track started and sounding good. Virus gone, will see if Tony has flogged his lambda, or should I be sensible now I have cash? Worked in the garden cutting stuff down, noticed more spawn. Then I put up the curtain pole in the bedroom, so all in all I think I deserve an indulgent evening on the analogues doing weird stuff. The bonus of that is increasingly that the loops I make are useful for library work, especially this serial killer stuff.

So all good.

This evening my 9 second track became 12. Not as good. Much longer crescendo too.
Today I put up the clothes line. Man work. Hammered and screwed some shit. It's not quite vertical but neither am I.
There's a bloke on telly walking on water. Darn convincingly. He says he's pushing his own envelope. I'm usually content with licking mine and would be happier still never to have to. Criss Angel. Maybe he's Jesus 2?

Sunday, 11 March 2012

I need a bigger crescendo apparently. Not the first time I've been asked - but the first when I only had 9 seconds allocated to get there!

Working on the ad music, having fun trying to be orchestral.

Friday, 9 March 2012

Wow, amazing day. Three tracks all much liked and a brief for a 9 second thing to be done over the weekend. Possibly big use so I have to try hard! Now, to get hammered!

Friday, 2 March 2012

Colin and Tony here, lovely day, Tony's latest modular box very sweet. Might get some coding out of Colin if I'm lucky. Curry this evening though then Modularis tomorrow. Could do a little work but feel like chilling instead so that's what I'll do...
