Work complete... oh no it's not!

Thought I'd get everything out of the way by today - and I had. All review work done and I planned to work on the Headshock compilation this afternoon, not really work but just pootle with the running order, drop a few tracks in favour of others. Then I get a request for some library tracks I submitted ages ago to have alternate mixes!
Will see if I get them done today/tomorrow or not. Lots of other stuff to do, plus seeing the Orb tonight.

I should also buy a printer as I keep needing one and now Pat's retired getting stuff printed is a problem, and of course I want something printed right away!

Arse/Feck.

Turns out Minilogue do more groovy stuff than I knew

Gone Tweeting

OK, so I haven't been blogging much, mostly cos I'm busy trying to get all my review work done before the weekend but also because Pete talked to me about Twitter and I thought I'd give it a go. Not sure I'll stick it out but I've put some really profound things in it so far. The idea is, I think, that I get loads of followers and somehow that's a good thing because, damn, I forgot why. Could be I sell loads of novels or album downloads or someone's interested in the music Pete and I did at the weekend.

Details, they're important.

However, here's a photo of Bob I took this morning. Can't really go wrong there eh?

There was something else in the master plan too, damned if I can remember what it is. Eek, Melanie Philips is on Newsnight, WTF! How come they keep putting that nasty woman on telly?

nighty night. Pat retires tomorrow, Dawn getting flowers and I should think of something too, not sure what. Promised the American guy I'd do some sugary piano music when I get chance, used to be good at that kind of thing once upon a time, not that it ever had any useful outlet.

Discovering Twitter, Ideation weekend

Yep, Pete reckons Twitter is less annoying than Facebook. I need something that wastes less time but is an effective way to communicate and stay in touch. Had some advice, will see if time to implement.

We recorded 2 CDs of material, from what I've heard there is good stuff. Nice curries, nice chats, very good weekend despite the fiasco on Friday of the last minute van hire. Hauled furniture, assembled bed, put up curtain rail, Pete did one also and we prevailed.

Completed one review tonight, or near as damn it. Means I can concentrate on the other tomorrow.

Did work on Headshock compilation, more to do.

Blimey

So its like this, I'm stoned having just worked on a review all evening and had a ball writing it, and I'm watching a film about Stravinsky and Coco Chanel. So what do I do? Do I order Rite of Spring as I'd planned to grab samples from? Did I buggery. I ordered the complete symphonies of Shostakovich. No, I can't explain it either. Subliminal message from somewhere perhaps.

Another Friday is here

Mixed start to the morning, sold a bunch of downloads on bandcamp and finished a review, which made me happy. Then I learnt of Tony Benn's passing and got to wistfully remembering seeing him talk once and thinking I could have listened indefinitely.

Today I'll crack on with another review, go see my sister in hospital and with luck this evening cram in a few more 'Game Of Thrones'.

Last night I cooked pasta for us all and it was fairly good, not my best but I improvised a little cos Dawn only told me late her other half was coming. Hey ho! :)

Cloud Atlas is a great book BTW, in case you were wondering. Good job I finished it and can crack on with work.

Random recent pic:
I imagine most people who do blogs plan their entries or work over them for a while rather than quickly brain-dumping their surface thoughts before rushing off to do something else. If this makes me a bad person, it's just one of many character defects we could air. Happy friday y'all!

Happy Mondays

... are full of sunshine, like this one. There was beer and I enjoyed reading Cloud Atlas rather than working.
In the evening I did at least knuckle down and work on a review, whilst looking at cool things to be announced at Frankfurt. More good stuff to come, Akai making the first showing to catch the eye.

Janet's op done but no real info, hope to see her tomorrow. Promised to help with stripping walls at Margaret's so another packed day. Pond brimming with frogs. There will be spawn to move soon. In bulk.

Aah

Finished my short review Friday lunch then took the rest of the day of.  Did this

Went to Dawn's for tea, our Lisa meant to come with Jack but didn't show. Borrowed Star Trek: Into Darkness (great but more like a buddy/action movie than a Star Trek) and Game Of Thrones, we have yet to start.

Worked on novel this afternoon, curry tonight. Tomorrow back to work, two software reviews, one hardware before hols. Hope to get all done. So far upping workrate is delivering, hope I can continue. Was too slow asking for Waldorf thing.

No curry, they're fully booked so it's pizza and DVDs tonight instead.

Well well

Interestingly, the mic worked today and I think a canny friend has the solution: moisture. At my age moisture is always a problem but I had not been using a pop shield and it did go back into the box overnight with the usual bag of silica gel. Lacking any more info, that'll have to do.

Spent the day finishing one review, which was finished really but I wanted a last read through. Made good progress on another too. Which means I don't have owt much to report at all here.

Here's a picture of some fungus

Frustrating day

It started well enough, polished off a short app review and got to the "almost complete" phase of a longer one. All was looking promising. Then I had a disaster with a new piece of kit and a microphone, my much-loved Rode NT1-A appearing to die after a few minutes use on phantom power from this new thing. Gutted I carried on but intend to take it to the place I got it tomorrow and see if they think it should go for repair or if there's owt I can do. I'm a total dunce when it comes to mics which is why this one delighted me so much.

Used an old AKG mic I had and took some notes for the review but it's hard to be positive since I'm missing the Rode. In the end I achieved less today than I should and I'll do an hour or so this evening to try and get back on track. Don't really want to waste the time tomorrow driving to Red Scar but there you go.

Restored my old iPad so Pat can have it with the apps I already have. A bit of faffing with authorisation, not sure why, but hopefully she'll get some use out of it.

Had hoped to do some music this week but it's looking unlikely now. The sun is shining but it's still quite cold...
